SAN ANGELO, TEXAS
Floyd Ray Butler, Sr. originally owned and operated Butler Farm and grew produce for San Angelo and the surrounding area. Upon his death in 1979, the land passed to his only son, Floyd Ray Butler, Jr. It came to be known as one of the largest independent truck farms in the State of Texas. Floyd Jr. loved to hunt, fish, and cook and, in addition to oil and gas drilling and production, he was a land developer.
In 1992, Floyd began the process of organizing and subdividing the farm into blocks, lots, streets, and easements. He was very proud of the development and ensured that the roads were sturdy and that the utilities were installed underground. Floyd lived in Butler Farm and his house was, approximately, in the middle of what is now Floyd Drive. He also had a caliche pit around the location of Whitney Street. Floyd passed away on May 9, 2002.
